1979 CB650 Carb Parts for Sale

Postby adr3naline » Wed May 02, 2012 12:36 am

After digging into my carbs deeper, I was missing some essential parts. I wouldn't be able to find them individually, so I'm trying to part out these carbs so I can get a new set. I put them up on ebay:

Carb Body #1
Carb Body #2
Carb Body #3
Carb Body #4
Float Bowls
Top Caps
Throttle Valves
Air Cutoff Diaphragms
Floats, Pins, Needle Valves
Main Jets
Float Gaskets
Throttle Linkage
Choke Linkage

Let me know if you need any of these! Thanks!

I need a #3 carb. Mine has a bad seat gas just seems to pour out once the gas is turned on. I followed the e-bay link but the auction is closed. Do you still have the #3 carb available?

thanks

First you may try to polish the seat with a cotton bud and metal polish.

Have you heard of much issue with these '79 carbs not seating. I have replaced most everything in the carb I can short of pressing in new brass and the needle WILL NOT SEAT.

From what I picked up here, seat problems seem no known issue for the PD carbs.
The many leaky carbs threads (for both types) typically just result from debris in the tank.
That's why we always write: clean out your tank!

Another option for leakage may be mixing up parts from different carbs.
Especially the floater cams are susceptible to small damages.

One possibility to check out the success of valve seat polishing is to blow into the fuel line with the carbs upside down. Then the blow should be blocked and also you should see no bubbles when you put a bit of fuel around the valve seat.

BTW, I think for the PD carbs it is possible in principle to mount the floats upside down. No idea if this will cause seat/leak problems however. Nevertheless this is how they should be:
