Help needed on how to weld ABS

My 81 CB 650 has some cracks and broken pieces on the plastic triangular shaped side panels. One panel cracked near a peg. The other has a broken peg that could be welded back on.

Are these panels ABS? If so, how do I weld it?

Use JB weld.

JB makes several products. The JB Weld I have is for general automotive and household use, the kind you would use to "weld" metal on your engine, for example. Do they make a product just for ABS or plastics?

Yes the general auto works. Have several sidecovers with it holding the tabs on.

Never thought that would work. Thanks so much CB, you've been a great help. Mike

Dad came up with that. He used it on a cover 15 years or so ago and it still is holding.

That's good to hear.

I just JB'd the broken parts. Will install them tomorrow after a complete cure. They say it should cure in 15 hours, but I'll give it some more time just to be sure. The peg that broke was the longest one, and has the weakest mounting. Once the weld is cured, I'll swab some more JB in there to strengthen it.
