Well unfortunately there is a comon problem on CB650s. The charging system dies at some point. If you have a manual check your system because that may be a problem and it won't help the other stuff. Its not a cheap fix but it has to be done.

As for the carbs unfortunatly the carbs for 1980 are different than other years so I haven''t found rebuilt kits for them. I put seafom in the tank to try to keep from opening them up until I have kits in hand. also check the boots between the carbs and the engine. If they leak then it could be part of your problems.

I got my rebuild kits on z1enterprises.com about a year ago. I'm not sure if they still have them available. For all 4 kits it was about $80, so get ready to spend some money.

Cool site but I don't see any rebuild kits. Unfortunately.

Welcome here! :D
Good sign that it starts and runs. Your #2 gas leak and dying without choke when turning the throttle gives a hint that the accelerator pump located at carb #2 is leaky. Maybe fixing that already solves your problem. Not sure whether you have to get off the carbs for that, but worth a try to avoid it if your carbs also get out that hard as in most cases.
I see no hint to a charging/ignition problem so far.
The rear shocks turn to early blocking already in stock, so I'd propose you ride for a while and think over lowering again then. If your legs are definitively too short, consider to lower the seat first.

Have you tried any Honda dealers for the rebuild kits?
I got my 1981 cb650c Kits from a dealer They were around $37.50 each not cheap but they had most every o ring even the ones between the carbs as well also I have heard of a few other places you might get non oem parts Some even have the jets and float valves
Bike bandit is one that had a set for my bike but I did not know if they were a good source or not but some one on here told me they got there kits from them and that they were good to deal with.
But who knows.

Do a Honda cb650 search here at the link. It says it's for 79 - 80

http://www.siriusconinc.com/default.asp

This is where I'm getting my carb, brake and clutch kits from.

This place is also on ebay but charges more there.

It helped me...I haven't ordered them but I'm not sure I need them yet.

But now I know where to get them.

FYI The 79 carbs are the same as 80. 81/82 changed
