LED Turn Signals NOT Blinking

Postby 81CB650CAFE » Sun Apr 01, 2012 11:51 am

I have a 1981 CB650C and I replaced the stock signals with some LED ones. Now when I switch my signals on they light up but dont blink. So I have talked to a couple different service guys and they said that I need to put a resistor in because the LED doesnt draw as much power as a normal buld. Will this work?

Since the original Turn Signal bulbs is about 23 watt each, i dont think it's a mystery that led act the way you say. So more resistance in truly needed.

MEHall has it right. Not enough resistance from LED's. Went through this a couple years ago and stayed with regular lights in the turn signals. I did go with LED's in the brake light. I also added an extra "fast flash" LED bar below my license plate holder for added "hey, I'm stopping here" visibility. You can replace your "blinker" controller but it's burried deep in the center of the bike. It can be done but I wimped out.

ya i was told to get a electronic blinker relay and that should solve the problem, so thats what i did and it worked only $8 too. such a easy fix.

Can you show pictures of where the new electronic blinker controler goes? will this work on a 1980 cb650 custom? thanks

If it's the CB 650 and not the custom i know the turn signal relay is located under the left side cover.
