electric help

Postby kemp2368 » Thu Jul 12, 2012 12:58 pm

hi all,ive been having a few problems with my indicators recently here is the story :(
my left hand side as i sit on the bike are fine
the problem is with the right side, the rear right stays solid with the front not on at all, when i rev the bike they work, then let bike return to idle and goes back to above
i eventually found the problem i think,it was a corroded conection in the headlight
now its got me thinking that all the bullet conections are going the same way :(
is there a standard practice to clean them up,as all ive done with the corroded one i found was to sand it with a piece of wet and dry sandpaper
or renew all the bullet connections in the head light to stop any further corrosion

Yes, that old stuff needs cleaning.
At least the male ones may be cleaned with a metal brush.
After cleaning, one should check out shape, fit and mechanical connection strength and if everything looks fine and works finally may use a bit of grease.

You can use CRC Contact cleaner spray to clean out any corroded electrical connection. Once you have them clean use dielectric, or silcone grease to keep them from corroding again.
