GM HEI: Cheap and Extremely Effective Ignition Upgrade

Old post but very interesting
My question is do you need to mount the coils on the factory mount and just wire as needed or can I mount the coils without the factory mount and just use push in spades and just wire the two needed wires??

I have all the parts do do this but cannot find factory connectors and pig tails to make connections
