classic rookie mistake...i started rebuilding my master brake cylinder two months ago, and after getting everything apart i got a bit distracted. fast forward to now...i can't for the life of me remember the order of parts and how it all went together. i have the new parts, but no instructions. i'm trying to piece it together from grainy parts fiche pictures and have been doing forum searches for the last couple of hours. does anyone know of a link or have a picture of how it is put together?
thanks in advance.

Re: master cylinder rebuild question
I just had mine apart and here's the diagram I used. ( Thanks to Cosky !)
( I modified the picture to include the washer, circlip and boot descriptions)
heres the original link to the picture:
[url]http://cosky0.tripod.com/id14.html/url]
Install the spring (4) first ( large end in first )
then primary cup (7)
next the Master Piston (5) note: Secondary Cup (6) should be on the Master Piston before installing the master piston.
after you have the Master piston in, install the washer then the snap clip.
last thing is the boot.
Hope this helps. Good luck
Edit: davesee where did you buy your rebuild kit from?
I looked at one of your posts.
http://www.hondacb650.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1447
where you gave the link to MikesSx site
did you have any luck with there parts?
Looks like i have to rebuild mine now, and i need your input.
thanks

Re: master cylinder rebuild question
perfect, just what i needed. thanks.
i ended up getting the parts from parts'n'more, which i guess runs mike'sxs. i steered away from the yamaha mc because of the reverse threaded mirror mounts.
i did a quick search and couldn't find what i had ordered, but here are the part numbers from my bill
29-0050 BRAKE RESERVOIR REPAIR KIT
>> 1 $39.00 $39.00
>> > 08-0231 MASTER CYLINDER REBUILD KIT
>> 1 $24.00
>> $24.00
i haven't installed it yet, but everything looks good. this is for the single disc setup.
thanks again.

Re: master cylinder rebuild question
maybe you guys could help me with a few snags...i finally installed the new mc and tried to follow the bleeding procedure http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=259.0
the fluid wouldn't draw at all, and even with the banjo bolt detached fluid won't come out the hole to the brake hose.
i wasn't sure which way to install the primary cup (opening towards the hose?) but have tried both ways with same effect. i have the bleeding nipple open.
i'm sure i must be missing something simple...any ideas?

Re: master cylinder rebuild question
This procedure may work or not depending on the tightness of your brake bleeder nipple thread. Probably you suck bypass air now. One could try to insert the nipple with grease, but make sure you don't get grease into the caliper. Another option might be to push the sucking hose on the nipple down to the caliper body to use it also for outer sealing or use a O-Ring in between in case the hose is not soft enough.
If you did the fluid change because there was a slight feelable blocking before, possibly your brake hoses are swollen inside. In this case make sure they are really free before you proceed.
Bon appetit!
