CB650SC is the speedo cable removable from the outer sheath

Postby juntjoo » Fri Dec 04, 2020 6:51 pm

I can't push it out(or pull from opposite end since the other end broke). I want to use the sheath cuz it fits whereas the cable I bought, specifically for cb650sc, so I guess they mixed it up or something, doesn't fit but I can take the cable out and use it if I can get it in the original sheath/outer cable. Is it fixed in there in a bearing or something? I'm about to try to stick a drill in there, carefully.

Hi JJ, the inner cable should come out, it may be held in by hardened grease or muck. Can you not use your new inner cable to push the old broken one out?

Hey George. I wasn't able to budge it with a screw driver I'm about to get it in a vice and line up a bevy of tools including a drill. I'll get it out ;). I'll be careful

Any genius tips on getting that clip bent back to original shape to hold the cable there? Apparently I bent it just a little bit too much to hold it securely. Not looking forward to removing the wheel. Otherwise I may just use a "gear tie" or something to hold it there.

Oh I got it out already. Now I'm trying to get it back it. It's in, just not secure as I bent the clip. Ain't about to take the wheel off though for it

Actually no need to remove wheel, just loosen the caliper and move it out of the way. No biggie and speedo all fixed. Well we'll see once I get bike going which shall be soon enough....
