Fuel Tank interchange questions

I have an '80 650 custom, and starting to have problems with the fuel tank leaking due to prior modifications. This bike is more of a johnny cash bike (one piece at a time) than true original. While I like the looks of the rounded tank, higher capaicity would be a big plus for me. I'm currently looking at maybe using the tank off the 80 CB750.

My questions then are would the bigger tank off the 750 fit onto this bike?
Has anybody done this mod?
What problems can I expect?

I'm not looking to chop and make fit, but minor adjustments might work.
Any insight or experience would deffinately be appreciated.

Thanx
Ghost

What kind of tanks would fit on a 1983 CB650 Nighthawk?

Depends how much work you want to do. Anything can be made to fit.
I have a 84 tank if your interested in it.

Really? How much work? I'm a newb. I was quoted $250 to have the dent taken out for me...and that was from a guy who works from his house and is normally cheap.

I think I like the rounded gas tanks a little better as seen in these pics...

I like the older tank better. You said you could fit almost any tank on any bike if you were willing to do the work. Your tank is off of an '84?

Check ebay for the tank you need. I see several nice looking ones for less than $100.

Yes. I believe so. How much are you selling it for? What kind of rust treatments have you done in it?
