Re: Headlight question of HID versus 35/35 or 55/65 Halogen
The charging system isn't "bad." It just has a weak spot (the rotor). But that doesn't mean you can make it do more than it was designed to do. No matter how much rewiring you perform, the alternator will only be able to produce 260 watts, as Volker said, and only through a relatively narr...

The ignition. I thought that's what this post was about. My bad if i'm wrong You're correct. I just didn't want to give you the wrong information. If all else fails, trace the wires to their source. Yellow and Yellow/White go to the reluctor for cylinders 2/3 Blue and Blue/White go to the reluctor ...

Re: GM HEI: Cheap and Extremely Effective Ignition Upgrade
I am extremely weak in understanding electrical stuff. My eyes started to cross somewhere around page two. Is there a summary about how this works, what parts were eventually used, etc.? Maybe a corrected wiring diagram? In other words, the best of the last 24 pages? I'll work on a condense...

Re: Do I really need this special tool?
Just be careful; it's very easy to break the two inside head bolts. I busted one and had to take the block in to a machine shop so they could weld a nut to what was left of the bolt and back it out... Was reasonably priced but added a few days to the project.

Re: Need advice - rotted off mufflers
Rebuild kits for the '79 are expensive and hard to find.
However, the '76 and earlier CB750 carbs are virtually a drop-in replacement, much more tunable, and cheaper to rebuild....

Re: Cheap Replacement Regulator
The image came from page 4 of the shoc4, forum on cheap regulator/rectifier. Here's the link http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=12465.msg420185#msg420185 I would ask at that forum but I'm still waiting on my verification e mail to join. Hi. This is my first post, but I have been benefiting from the info here for weeks. I'm wondering if anyone can tell me if I should expect any trouble from this rectifier. http://www.ebay.com/itm/35A-1000V-3-Phase-Diode-Bridge-Rectifier-with-Heatsink-SQL35A-/180947391161?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&h...

Doesn't eBay charge you a percentage of your BIN price at the end of the auction regardless of whether it sells or not?
