Re: leaky fuel tank

Back when I was dealing with leaky fuel tanks I had exactly the same problem. Used a couple of different products but finally settled on a product called Red Kote (actually blue in color) that did the trick. Another one is POR-15, never used it but others report good results. I would avoid Kream due...

Re: drive chain

My wife will tell you that I have way too many tools. I agree that the right tool makes the job more pleasant.

Re: drive chain

I tend to disagree about the last statement. I'd think the real proves for human ingenuity are found there where spare parts and special tools are completely unavailable. Like e.g. some before WW1 vehicles still running somewhere in Africa. These guys are the real masters of ingenuity. Around here ...

Re: drive chain

I knew that referencing you would drag you out of the woods...:) I was honestly surprised at how easy it was the first time I used the rivet tool. Plus I've used it on a few paid jobs (I'm sort of the neighborhood weekend wrench for a few local riders who are too cheap or too smart to go to a deale...

Re: drive chain

It's not so much a lack of confidence, just an old habit from racing days that has me safety wiring a lot of things that probably don't need it. If I was changing chains on a more regular basis I might invest in a staking tool providing I could use it properly.

Re: drive chain

Cut mine off with a saws all. The replacement chain has a clip link, others have a pin type but I didn't have the tool to use that type. I used the clip type (make sure it goes on in the right direction), safety wired it w/silicon, probably overkill, but that sucker ain't coming off.

found source of oil leak

In the process of installing a 17T front sprocket today, I found that an oil leak I had been noticing was due to the shifter seal not seated all of the way into the case. Cleaned it all up and popped it back in. Popped is the right word as you can defiantly feel it snap in place. yay :P

17T sprocket

Going to a 17 tooth sprocket in front. Prior postings mention modification to the little guard/shield inside the outer cover. Anybody care to elaborate?
Thanks

Re: Horn upgrade

There is an horn that's made to fit on bikes that have an output over 100 decibel but for the moment i cant remember the name of the maker.  8) That might be the Wolo compact air horn. I thought about it but decided I liked the looks of the chrome dual horns. They are 120db as well whic...
