Re: '79 CB650 Signal Relay

I had the same problem with the headlight, sometimes it did not work. To get it to work I had to jiggle the wires from the handlebars and it would turn on. Just gave the wires a good inspection and cleaning and problem was solved. My front signals remain ON all the time. And they flash when turning ...

Welcome to the site.

Don't know anything about "ca" but your bike looks like a custom to me. I am sure others will point you in the right direction.

Which year is your bike?

Sweet bike!

I agree with Volker, Go out riding on the bike and if you do not like it then think about getting rid of it.

Re: Can engine oil cause hard start

wow! so it is true. there must be an additional ingredient in the motorcycle specific oil. maybe something that increases the viscosity?

I currently use Penzoil 10W40. When I had a Yamaha150 I used to use Castrol 10W50.

Re: Can engine oil cause hard start

I would echo the above made statements, avoid fancy oil. Just stick to the regular 10W40. But I am intrigued that by changing the oil you started getting less oil leakage.

Tight valves or out of sync carbs should be looked into next.

Re: Oil leak and stripped bolt

Really?

Adjusting valve clearances is kinda easy compared to everything else. If you don't wanna take a chance then take it to a shop.

Re: Oil leak and stripped bolt

No. You just need to take the head cover off, which would mean that you may also have to dismantle the whole rocker arm assembly but thats about it. Once you have the head off, helicoil the suspected hole but remember to sequentially remove the bolts when removing the head cover, i would probably nu...

Nice bike!

How much are people willing to offer? And don't worry about the miles, these things last forever if taken good care of.

Re: Insanity

If you can get the bike to run then you are almost there. It maybe the carb sync problem but before attempting that please remember to first reset your valve clearances and ignition timing.

Good Luck.

PS have you played with the idle knob so far?

Re: Oil leak and stripped bolt

I had the same problem last year when I had dropped a nut in the head area and had to take the head off. I had mixed up the bolts. But mine leaked oil or I should say gushed oil as soon as I started the engine. The blot was shorter, it should have been longer but I am intrigued to learn that has not...

It is your drive chain. You should check its tension.
