Re: rod bearings

Hi, did you download the shop manual for this bike? it has codes on the crank and connecting rods for bearings according to the manual, if they're even available. Maybe you can get another motor from a bike salvage, or just the whole bottom end, with the bearings for both mains and connecting rods, ...

Re: rainproofing? plugs, caps etc.

One coil had a crack, i changed it out in May, pulsers were dry,but i sealed up the cover anyway. I am blaming it on the plug caps themselves as they're out in the weather, even sealed doesn't seem to matter. I will try my other set of wires and caps first before i spend any money, but i was thinkin...

rainproofing? plugs, caps etc.

Been going on for a while now; get caught in a downpour and miss, sounds like its running on 2 cylinders. I did the trimming at both ends of the wires; siliconed the caps after i screwed them back on; dielectric greased the coil ends of the wires; sealed the pulser cover with a small amount of inter...

Re: Engine Noise (Video)

I had to get a used tensioner from the bike salvage yard. Easier to install if the head is removed; but you don't have to do that. Remove the cam; buy a telescopic pen magnet first as you need it to fish out the timing chain, chain in valley; get someone to help as you need someone below to make sur...

Re: Fork swap

Ok now; i pulled the left fork apart and there was a gouge just under the seal on the lip below the seal. anyone who had this type of fork apart knows what i'm speaking about, I cleaned the fork out with kerosene and let it dry. Then i used some gasket silicone to fill in the gouge and let is set ov...

Re: Engine Noise (Video)

Not that much work; do it on a weekend when the baby is asleep and the wife/girlfriend isn't bitching bout the bike haha; seriously should only take an hour; less really. Center stand the bike; say 5 minutes for draining oil(making sure ya got nearly all of it). Maybe 9 or 10 bolts to drop the pan, ...

Re: My 1980 CB750C Project

Good work, was wondering about the dohc engine, the only thing i don't like is shim discs for valve adjustment. Forks and wheels and triple trees interchange? Like that red.

Re: new engine noise

Slider bolts can seize up. Just replaced mine and that was the problem; easy fix just pull apart, clean and grease up. check the rubber boots that are in there, they can get ratty after 30 plus years and i don't know if they can be bought either. I meant i replaced my brake pads; not the slider bolts.

Re: Strange Shifting Issue

True; i did the adjustment under the big ass center nut/cap thing in the middle of the clutch cover and i have not had that "false neutral" since; plus it got rid of a lot of slack in the cable that i normally would get rid of by using the cable adjustment.

Re: Charging problem, probably the rectifier

That wire means nothing; i don't even know why its there. Really on being this handy; did you check Allen's Cycle on Ammon rd.; maybe he can cut you a deal on a used one to try. Don't know how old your battery is? Possible it is just junk and won't take a charge but every thing else is working prope...

It's ok to clean off the pistons in the jugs; hold the timing chain tight and just keep turning over til each one is at the top then go to it.

Re: 81 CB650C Front Brake Master Cylinder

Nissin m/c off a Honda 4-wheeler will fit the bars and the 650 banjo bolt will fit it too, ya lose the rh mirror, up to '03 fits a 7/8" handlebar. Since it works dual front brakes on the wheeler it will work fine on the bike, plus it bleeds easier too.

Re: Engine Noise (Video)

Not good, cam chain tensioner out of place rubbing on the starter clutch Been there with that sound. Drain the oil and drop the pan, there's a groove just above the starter clutch for it to sit in, someone else whose more computer savvy can bring up a photo to show you, or check the tech board. You ...
