Re: Valve cover coins, AKA pucks
A few more pics; sealed up the replacement pucks with silicone; when it set i applied 2 coats of aviation sealer compound to the head and 1 coat on the valve cover before i replaced the gasket with my spare used one; time will tell but if it gets me by til new pucks and gasket shows i'll be happy.

Re: Valve cover coins, AKA pucks
Cheap? The whole Athena set was well over$100 up here, and i did use a Honda coin set a few years ago and they didn't last either.

Valve cover coins, AKA pucks
I may not be the only one with this issue every year; but is there another supplier that makes them out of modern materials so they don't go bad after one or two seasons? I installed my last set i had out of my Athena gasket set i bought a few years ago and even with using Aviation sealer compound o...

Re: Swapping 650 Carbs with 750 Carbs
They must have used angled isolators to do that, Soos has a list of carbs he tried out on the 650; its on here in the tech discussion part of the forum; i think

Re: Swapping 650 Carbs with 750 Carbs
80 has manual linkage carbs, why the change to cv type? If i remember the 81 and up 650 ran on the cv types. But the head had different spacing on the carb side, Find a set of mid 70's 750 carbs and clean them, will fit the isolators and they have a mechanical choke lever, good luck with what you try.

Re: Fork swap
Was suggested to me on the sohc forum to get a baby bottle with the proper markings; got one so today i am going to drain my forks completely and start over on the refill as i am bottoming out sometimes, since i only put in a guess at 5oz, of tranny fluid. No leaks yet but i want to have the forks f...

Re: rainproofing? plugs, caps etc.
Did as cb650 suggested to the caps, still ran like shit in the rain. Bought a can of spray on ignition silicone; the kind that turns white after it set for 10 minutes. I used 2 coats, 1 before i went to work and another before i went home. I also sprayed up under the tank onto the coils as they were...

Nice; i like cb650's suggestion on that swapover; a lot less work and then you have in storage original tank and covers. Oil the tank so it won't rust if you do that.

Re: Brake light issue
Try that bulb in the right side socket first; that will tell you if either the bulb needs replaced; or the socket is junk. Does both switches function? Can be just a dirty connection to that side; try the easy stuff first before you go replacing sockets.

Re: rainproofing? plugs, caps etc.
Found the trouble; i did the run and pull test; started with #4, got a shock; The rest when i pulled them off the idling engine didn't shock me, so i can go to town and return the new plug wires i bought for an old honda civic and get my money back; they were 7mm copper/steel core but the plug cap o...

Re: rainproofing? plugs, caps etc.
I always put the silicone on the outside of the rubber smearing it around the wire and cap to seal it; never thought of doing it that way. Will try that tomorrow; weather says its gonna be clear til middle of next week before we get rain up here; will know then what happens
