Re: 750 Stator on a 650 ?

Found a used rotor on fleabay, talked to the seller who assured me it tests 4.8 ohms. Got it for $40. Questions about the brushes on the stator. One is shorter compared to the other one: http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y217/gaillarry/StatorBrushesCB650.jpg Time for a new brush or is it normal? At $...

I have the meter set on the 200 ohm setting. Should it be on another setting ( ( 2000, 20K, 200K, 2000K ) ?

Between the 2 brass rings there's 00.7 ohms, and no continuity to ground. So the rotor and stator are both good !!!

Re: 750 Stator on a 650 ?

Yes, especially if the value is slightly lower with the multimeter terminals directly shorted. With the terminals directly shorted I'm getting 00.4 The local Honda shop told the previous owner that the stator was dead. I'm going to check the rotor which is still on the bike, but I don't understand ...

Re: 750 Stator on a 650 ?

I have the stator off my bike. With my digital multimeter set at 200 ohms I'm getting 000.8 to 00.9 (continuity) between each yellow pair - this should be a good stator.

Re: 750 Stator on a 650 ?

I'll have a look at them this weekend. Is there a way to test the stator and rotor when they are off the bike?

750 Stator on a 650 ?

End of the riding season here in the far north, so used bike prices have dropped. Saw a 79 CB650 going for $300 on Kijiji. Being the dummy, I had to go look at it. Pristine condition but charging problems, so it's now in my garage. Needs a stator. Found one on Kijji for $75, stator and rotor but for...

Re: Constant Power to starter

I think I found the problem. Fuse is good. I disconnected the cable to the starter. Now with the key on, there's power to one side of the relay but not the other, which is good With the key on, I put the starter cable on the starter & get 12+ volts, but no start. I suspect the starter is shorted...

Re: Constant Power to starter

With the key on, no clicking on the starter relay and no lights on the front (neutral/oil light). If I turn the key off the voltage to the starter stops.

Constant Power to starter

Got the bike running yesterday for my son, he messed up the spark plug wires. He rode the bike home and today it won't start. So I went and looked at it. With the key on (not hitting starter button) there's power to the starter relay and from the starter relay to the starter (12.8 volts).. I find it...

Re: Firing Order

Yes, he had the spark plug wires crossed. Fixed them 1/4 and 2/3 and she fired right up. Thanks !

Firing Order

My son installed new spark plugs and bike won't start. I suspect he put the spark plug wires on the wrong plugs. What's the firing order? left ign coil: 1/4 and right ign coil: 2/3 ??
He has the manual at his home and of course I don't have one here.
