Float levels off a little? Blamed mine on the ignitors. New wires wouldn't hurt. Someone who dealt with cv type carbs can tell you the float measurement. Got a inline fuel filter on this? Can you get a few photos of what you have?

Regulator is shot, normally when the charging rotor goes it kills the regulator. Rectifier side may still be good. Do you have a spare to try?

New units installed, still have the problem. Start by checking my plugs first, but today for most of the drive it pulled good til i went wide open. Then it sounded like it was starving for fuel. I have an inline filter on, only a year old but a new one won't hurt.
