Re: New front brake pad ratltle and annoying squeal.
Rubber won't make a metallic rattle; and the boots aren't great but useable. one more thing i had to do was bend one of the steel clips that was on the cover as it wouldn't go in place. there's 2 of them made on the cover that look like they sit and lock into place by the pads or just beside them to...

New front brake pad ratltle and annoying squeal.
Checked and replaced the front pads as the slider bolts were seized and the inside pad was down. brake holder pins were seized in the holes so i turned over the caliper and used a small punch to drive them out; flared one and used the grinder to remove the fattened tip so it would fit back on. Clean...

Re: 82 nighthawk 650 fuel problem???
Float levels off a little? Blamed mine on the ignitors. New wires wouldn't hurt. Someone who dealt with cv type carbs can tell you the float measurement. Got a inline fuel filter on this? Can you get a few photos of what you have?

Re: Charging problem, probably the rectifier
Regulator is shot, normally when the charging rotor goes it kills the regulator. Rectifier side may still be good. Do you have a spare to try?

Re: Fork swap

Going to buy another set of complete forks, tubes etc. and change the whole works as this is getting out of hand. Must be scored up bad as yesterday when i was for a drive i looked at t...

Re: Ignitors or all the electrical
Woohoo she's alive! pulled the advancer and it was sticking; cleaned and oiled; along with cleaning the carb rack; turns out that my problem wasn't the ignitors but i had my floats off a bit; wasn't getting enough gas when i cracked it. Mind you there is a difference with the new boxes and cleaned a...

Re: Electrical issues...help!
You pulled the frame wire harness right? What about checking the upper sets going to handlebar switches and to the key side of the ignition. Sounds like a PO did something or the wire in the bucket got pinched then over time with the turning of the handlebars it pulled it apart enough to let it grou...

Re: Ignitors or all the electrical
Looks like i am pulling the carburetors; ran ok to work but it still is bogging as i give it throttle. Off topic but i replaced the pucks as they were leaking, i stripped the middle left side cover bolt hole on top of the #1 cylinder; the one that goes into the oil gallery that goes up to the head. ...

Re: Ignitors or all the electrical
I replaced 3 of the four plugs with new ones, unreal that the local Honda dealer only had them, checked valve clearance, was fine. Replaced the coins for the head bolts with new ones since i had a major leak from them and tightened up exhaust bolts. Ran fine in the yard, will run bike tonight to wor...

Re: Ignitors or all the electrical
New units installed, still have the problem. Start by checking my plugs first, but today for most of the drive it pulled good til i went wide open. Then it sounded like it was starving for fuel. I have an inline filter on, only a year old but a new one won't hurt.

Re: Ignitors or all the electrical
I ordered new ignitors online from Electrosport; set of 2 shipped up here to New Brunswick Canada was $111.18; shipping prce differs depending on your address. I do like the HEI setup that Pinhead came up with; but i have a lot on my plate with the house renos as well; and this is easier for me; i s...
