Oil consumption is too high. Rings or valve guides if your not leaking. Or your sucking it up from the crankcase breather.

An old trick on leaking seals is to use a little brake fluid. It makes the rubber swell. I've added a little to car trannys before and engines. Yup, It's a DOHC. Carbs need work. There is also 2 vent hoses from the carbs that I can't seem to find where they went to. I assume that they may have gone to the air box but I don't see where. It is also shaft drive. I noticed that no one seems to talk about 83 and up here. Is there another forum t...

The heat of the day can influence the metering rate of most pumps.
It is best to fuel up first thing in the morning while everything is still cooler.
Also if you feel the pumps are rigged file a complaint with the Michigan government bureau of standards and measurements.
BTW, I live in MI also.
