Re: Anyone have pods with an 82 Nighthawk 650(CV carbs/4 to 4 exhaust) ?
I ran pods on my 81. Mostly the same carb. 4-1 header. I think {but Im a maroon) pods are easier and more forgiving to do pods on than pd carbs.

Re: Dropping the exhaust?
seems to me there are some bolts that go up to the frame underneath. And it is all one part. All 4 pipes and 2 muffs. I remember it being a pain in the ass on the 84 i parted out but that was several years ago.

Re: gas tank
All 80 customs had single disk front comstars. I have 3. Yours even has the standard rear shocks not the customs.
The only shorty 4-2 there are is aftermarket slipons.

Re: gas tank
That is the only tank that will bolt in. 83 was all diff.
GS that is the STOCK exhaust for the nitehawk. Also the 80 and 81 customs.
They did make a STANDARD model also all 3 years that was a 4-2.

My 80 650 Custom has 4 into 2 as standard but it also had spoked wheels so I think it was one of the first 650 Customs. so it is probably not a custom. or someone swapped them out. In 8...
