Re: Camshaft Installation Timing Question
When you put the cam shaft in on 1979-1982 engines there is an alignment notch on the cylinder 4 end. The cutout should be facing forward, it should line up flat with the surface of the head. Engine has to be in 2.4 T position. (this should be rotated at the timing switches/points. (technically not ...

Re: flasher /wiring problems
If your fuse is popping when you plug in the flasher then it sounds like everything is working ok up until that point. It's possible that your signal light or bulb is shorted out. With aftermarket wiring you want to make sure there is no bare wires/connectors touching the metal parts of the bike. On...

Re: Head gasket replacement
From memory you need; the head gasket(factory honda head gasket is supposed to be the best quality), two o rings, 6 rubber discs/pucks To do everything properly there is another gasket layer under the head. You could also hone your sleeves and redo your piston rings. Lap all your valves and redo the...

Re: Spoked wheel swap on a British '81 650z RC03
The easiest swap would be the wheels from the k model of this bike I think. I don't believe I've seen a dual disc spoked front though.(they are 17" and 19" here) Otherwise cb750 and cb550 wheels have the same size axle I believe. They would have the only 19" /18" dual disc setup ...

Re: Noob Carb Help...
Bad spark plug maybe? I've had them do strange things. Pretty much there is a problem with the gas, the spark, amount of air getting in, or compression.
Just sell it as is and get new friends?

Re: Rebuilt engine won't start
Compression seems really low. I've heard people say they get readings of 80psi to 130psi. A splash of oil in a cylinder is supposed to increase the compression a bit. You did run the engine a bit to get oil circulating, right?
Clymers says you should read 142psi to 198psi...

Re: Handlebar switches - right hand side
If you can use a flat blade screwdriver to pry the switch open a bit the threaded insert might grab onto something enough to unthread. Then grease up your bolt so it can't be glued to anything, superglue your threaded insert into place, then bolt that side together so it sets up correctly.(like i sa...

Re: Help!!! Problem with CARB 1979 & 1981.
How did you get the carbs to fit? Just using sections of radiator hose? If you try to run the bike over 5000rpm and look at the spark plugs it will tell you if you need more gas or more air. Try riding with the choke in and see if the reduction of air helps or hurts. Google "reading spark plugs...

Re: Front blinkers
If you pull out the bolts on the side of the headlight and use your signals as a replacement bolt they should mount right up. You might need some washers to make the signal not pop through the hole. (in case the signals have smaller nuts/bolts) In order for the signals to work with a stock flasher y...

Re: Handlebar switches - right hand side
You should be able to use most aftermarket controls. As long as it has all of the same buttons it will do the job. Most old Jap controls could be fitted on too. It's just a matter of wiring the connector you have now to the new-to-you controls. Someone on here could probably help you out with that. ...

Re: Power missing-Run, baby, run!
If you pull the plugs after a few minutes of poor running you should be able to figure out what cylinders are the problem. Black or gassy smells will tell you there is something off. If your plugs are pure white with no golden or black/brown colour it likely isn't ignition problems.(right?) It would...

Re: Help!!! Problem with CARB 1979 & 1981.
The easiest solution to your problem would be to make all new parts for your carburetor to change the spacing. Then your carb boots should line up. If you don't have access to a machine shop and/or value your time... buy the right parts. (like a 1979-1980 carburetor) The mechanical carbs seem to wor...

Re: Carb removal difficulty
I just wiggle up and down. as long as the clamps are loose they seem to pop off. To get them back on; grease the boots, then ratchet strap around the engine and carbs. Make sure you don't snap off your choke linkage or any small delicate parts.
