New tires / tyres

Hi guys, I'm looking for new tires / tyres for my CB650 from 1979 . The bike is currently running 12 years old(!) Bridgestone Battlax BT-45 on the comstar rims: Front: 100/90-19M/C 57V Rear: 120/90-18M/C 65V I would love to spice the bike up with a couple of Shinko 705s, but I'm in doubt whether the...

Re: Charging Issue 85 650

You might find this helpful - I used for identifying a dead rotor: http://ricksmotorsportelectrics.com/tips/trouble-shooting-for-field-excited-charging-systems/ And as tario mentions, you can't really test a regulator/rectifier - You can only test the diodes: "There is no field test for the rec...

Thanks - and yeah, you are absolutely right - It's a 1979! I don't what went wrong there.

Carb insulators (boots)

Hi there, I'm looking for new carburetor insulators for my bike - My mechanic have messed the current ones up. Looking in the "Parts Catalogue" for my Honda CB650(z) RC03 from 1973, it says that the part number is: 16211-462-000 Search around I'm not finding anything :( Will carburetor ins...

Re: Acceleration in first gear

It sounds like you just need to release the clutch more carefully. Clutch springs stop slipping in the clutch. If it's grabbing then they should be fine. Your clutch is just a stack of disc brakes that are squeezed together by the springs. When you pull the lever it lets the discs spin independentl...

Acceleration in first gear

When I start accelerating in first gear from a complete stop, it isn't a smooth experience - If I don't give a bit of throttle it's about to die, and if I give too much throttle it is the same thing. It is very fiddly, and I can't do fast accelerations. I recently had my carbs cleaned and adjusted -...

Re: Crazy idling and bad 1st gear

So I don't know too much about these bikes so far as I just got my first, but I will say that it doesn't seem right to idle around 4k rpm unless the choke is all the way up, which even then seems high IMO, my choke all the way reaches 2.5k-3k. I would wait for a response on the first question but I...

Re: First bike, great fun!

Looks great! Good to see one from Denmark. I believe that the VIN numbers starting with RC03 is from 1979. ( Mine is the same). If they are from 1980 called the rc05 and after 81 they switched to JH2RCxxxxxxxxxxxx . Hope this helps. Nicklas N Hi Nicklas - Thanks for the reply! Yeah, I came to the s...

Crazy idling and bad 1st gear

Hi guys, I'm having two small problems with with my CB650 (RCo3) : Problem 1 When I want to start the bike, I pull the choke all the way out and push the starter - The bike starts fine, but after 5-10 seconds it suddenly goes from 1500-2000 RPM to 4000-5000 RPM. I try to regulate the choke, but if t...

Re: First bike, great fun!

As you might have read here , my right handlebar switch and throttle are quite loose, so I'm trying to find replacement parts. I could try to find original parts, but I think I'd rather try to upgrade the bike piece by piece. Right not I'm looking at this switch: http://www.wrenchmonkees.com/webshop...
