Re: bike only starts with a boost
Volker, when looking at the relay, I noticed a loose small green wire that branches off one of the cables that connect to the relay. It has a spade connector on it. There appears to be no place for it to be attached and we think it was part of the original OEM wiring, probably for an optional access...

Hi Volker, yes the neutral and oil lights did stay bright when start button was pushed. Will try battery in different bike and get back to y'all. Thanks. Mike

Re: bike only starts with a boost
Battery was charged 14 hours before installation, by the new owner of the bike. I have asked him to get into this thread so he can get the info first hand. I sent him a copy of your reply. Thanks, Mike

bike only starts with a boost
Tried to start bike after installing new battery. Connections are tight. Headlight was bright before hitting starter. Hit starter. No clicks, no nothing. Bad relay?
Interesting thing is, it will start with a boost. Which makes me think connections are bad.

Re: carb woes continue for '81
Thanks very much for that, Phil. Did you say you found adjustable floats? Where? I bought my CB 650 to sell, and I did sell it on eBay. Am delivering it on Monday and would like to present the new owner with info on how to get those adjustable floats. Mike PS -- this bike ran so well after getting i...

Re: how to adjust accelerator pump, 1981 standard model
I appreciate the comments, Volker. I am going to take that "handles nice" out of the listing. I know the engine can stand high revs. After all, it's a Honda! What I was trying to get across is that constant racing and shifting at high revs on a lovely sweet running "antique" bike...

Re: how to adjust accelerator pump, 1981 standard model
Yes, it is high. I've got a bottom line offer I'd take. If it doesn't sell, I'll keep it for local errands and stuff and use the more comfortable Concours for longer trips. Honda uses less gas, too.

Re: how to adjust accelerator pump, 1981 standard model
Too late now, the bike is on eBay. I've discovered that eBay works nicely for vehicles, even in the depressed market situation we are in right now. There is always someone out there who is ready for a lovely bike like this one. That missing choke butterfly on #1 is a downer, though. I forgot to disc...

Re: how to adjust accelerator pump, 1981 standard model
Volker, thanks for advice on tightening. And yes, I will sell the bike, because I bought it to fix it and sell. As a retired person, I do not have much income and this is one way I can earn a little money. My philosopy on selling cars or bikes is that I will never sell something that does not start,...
