Re: starter clutch gone? parts?

I managed to replace the starter clutch today! I still cannot believe that I was able to complete this job after how intimidated I was when I started. I followed Buber's and Ouch's directions and everything went according to plan. I spent a lot of time making the tool to remove the clutch nut, I fou...

Re: Help needed- 1982 Honda Cb650

I think this has been posted before: if the bike is idling fine and you can ride it for a while in whatever condition then the pilot screws are fine. Pilot screws only affect idle. I think somebody else will elaborate on the function of pilot screws more. Yes, the pilot screws are under each carb. A...

Re: starter clutch gone? parts?

I was able to get the plungers, rollers and springs ordered from the local Honda dealer yesterday. Thankfully, they still make them somewhere. The item numbers helped a lot. Thanks! The grand total was $22.99. They said the parts would be here wednesday. I also ordered the o-rings for the oil sump a...

Re: starter clutch gone? parts?

Thanks cb650 for the answers and the special insight on the torx bit. I will get those ones. And I will go ahead and buy the used s.clutch that ways I will always have a spare. Ouch: thanks man, those part numbers would be really helpful in tracking the parts now. I am first thinking of trying the H...

Re: starter clutch gone? parts?

Thanks. All of this is very informative. I have made up my mind to do this job. I had a couple of questions though regarding the tools and clutch itself. 1. Do I need to disassemble the clutch plates? I am a little confused by Clymer, in its clutch removal section it talks about removing the 4 blots...

Re: starter clutch gone? parts?

What thread you talking about cb650? I found a very informative thread from "ouch" on the sohc4 site that did have some pictures but if there is another one then I would like to see that one as well. The more information I have the better I will be prepared for this job. And thanks for the...

starter clutch gone? parts?

I had been having problems off and on with the starting mechanism but somehow they all managed to go away but probably not this time. I had the bike in storage for sometime and got it out for the summer, tuned it and the bike was running perfectly. But since the last 3 weeks or so the bike would be ...

Re: 79 Honda 650 with the green tank

No the color scheme looks unusual apart from that I think the looks mostly normal. yes, looking inside the tank is critical before doing anything else with the bike. If the front wheel is jamming I would take off the calipers and clean them carefully and flush the whole brake system and see if that ...

Re: 79 Honda 650 with the green tank

so maybe green ones do exist. or it could be a favorite color for some painters.

Welcome to the forum! How long has been the bike in non-running condition? Looks to me that it was in running condition not that long ago from what I can make out from the condition of the bike.

Re: A request for a tappet adjusting screw

yeah it was bad luck. I somehow became overzealous and over-tightened the locknut thereby stripping the screw. cb650 has agreed to help me out with the adjusting screw so hopefully I will be able to replace it and be back on the road.
