Re: Anyone know where to buy a rotor puller?

Right on, thanks. I will try that tomorrow. Hopefully it is that O-Ring, and will save me pulling the rotor, and trying to change that crank seal w/o splitting the engine.

other than that, its okay to run it? i mean, im sure if I ran it for a long period it'd just kill the battery as the alternator cover is off..... but im only planning on doing it for a few minutes at most to see where the oil is comming from

Volker...
I checked that plate.... All the screws seemed tight.
Is there a specific way to check its seal?! Do I have to take it off?

Re: Anyone know where to buy a rotor puller?

Nice...... Would it hurt for me to run my bike for say, 60 seconds w/ the alternator cover off?!?! Just so I can get a visual on where the oil is leaking from? I checked that lil cap, I pulled it out and the o ring looked okay... put it back in and cleaned the area up, so I'll see if it's leaking fr...

Does anyone know if one of those 3 pronged pullers will work? The type available at part stores?

Re: Anyone know where to buy a rotor puller?

Which is the oil pump cover? I'm 99% certain its the crank seal... because when its leaking, it's coming right out where the cable goes into the housing.... Which also never had a gasket put on it.... So its not a big deal to replace the seal is what you're saying? Because I definatly don't want to ...

Re: I also just got a 1980 CB 650

I just had it in to a guy who got it running on all 4 cylinders...... He has it running beautifully now, starts awesome, and idles nicely. Anyways, he commented on the oil leak. He thinks its the crank seal. How hard a job is this to fix? Do I have to pull the whole motor, or just fish the old seal ...

That is what I figured....
Is it safe to just move the wires from 1-4 over to 2-3?? To see if they fire?

Re: I also just got a 1980 CB 650

I'm pretty sure its leaking from the shaft that goes through from the alternator.

How do you remove the 2 center spark plugs????

Is there some trick to doing this? I just discovered why my bike probably won't idle, and whatnot... I just had her running again, and after about five minutes I tried to let it idle on its own, and it died. I licked my fingers and checked all four exhausts, and the 1st and 4th were really really ho...
