Re: 1980 CB650 for sale

Oh that price is for it running. I wouldn't ask that for a non-running bike.lol

I'll post when I get it running. Like I said the charging system is all good after I replaced all the parts  I just need to get those carbs out and clean them good. Should take long I just have to find the time.

Re: 1980 Carb rebuild question.

Joe, I have Orings for between the carbs that work for sealing up the leaks. Let me know if you need me to send you some.... I'll try turning these screws in and see if I can get it started. Its possible I am pouring way to much into them. I really don't know why its not starting. I'd love to be rid...

Re: 1980 Carb rebuild question.

I'm still having problems with my carbs. Took them off because they leaked. Figured that out and fixed it. Now I can't get the bike to start. It ran last fall when I parked it. I have spark. My gess is the pilot screws I took out. I just gessed on how to put those back. I get one cyl acting like it ...

Re: 1980 Carb rebuild question.

Cool Joe. Looks great too... I've got mine apart for now. Can't wait to get the carbs back together. thanks for the tip on the fuel tank. I did that after going through the bottom of the carbs. I didn't want to seperate them and wondered if I fixed the leak...I didn't and now I pulled them apart... ...

Re: 1980 Carb rebuild question.

other than what little I saw in the accelerator pump I don't see much corrosion...I think I am good once I get the orings in there I've cleaned it up pretty good. Still needs a little work but I ran out of carb cleaner... Now getting them back together just right might be fun but I'm pretty sure it ...

Re: wont run without choke

I hate to say it but it sound like a rotor or regulator problem or both. My bike had a problem when I bought it too. I could charge it and run around a while and eventually (maybe 15-20 minutes) then it died. Actually learned that the hard way. The previous owners fix was to disconnect the headlight...

Re: 1980 Carb rebuild question.

Little bit of an update. I believe I was worrying they would be more complicated than they are. I seperated them tonight and its really not that big of a deal. Oh and BTW the Orings on the tubes that lead between carbs are shot. I'm going to have to get the smallest one but already have ones to fit ...

Re: 1980 Carb rebuild question.

Volker, Kind of what I was thinking on the accelerator pump...I was told the carbs had been gone through but its obvious to me the kits weren't used and whoever did it didn't touch the pump. I got this bike from my father in law who got it from another guy. I talked to the last guy it was titled to ...

Re: 1980 Carb rebuild question.

I'll get Buna-N orings they are fine for fuel.

....

I still haven't decided what to do as I hate to have to do it again. I thank you for the info btw... I'll have to check about the air cutoffs.

Too much to spend money on and not enough cash I guess. Plus I'm itching to ride...

Re: 1980 Carb rebuild question.

I agree that the kits are a good idea. But at 120 to do the carbs I'm still in sticker shock. As for orings other than the big orings that go around the bowls I can get pretty much any oring I want so I haven't seen the need to buy a 120 dollars worth of kits just for orings. I probably have orings ...

1980 Carb rebuild question.

I found that my carbs were leaking on an off when I first got the bike. I suspected a sticking float and started running Sea Foam in the tank. Unfortunately I had charging issues so I did not get to ride much last year. With all of that fixed I was looking forward to this riding season. Well now wit...

Joe,

I was going to call you back but I didn't know your schedule and didn't want to be calling in the middle of your night. What all do you have left on the bike? Give me a call again sometime. You just caught me walking out the door with one of my kids in my arms or I could have talked longer.
