1979 CB650 Carb Parts for Sale
After digging into my carbs deeper, I was missing some essential parts. I wouldn't be able to find them individually, so I'm trying to part out these carbs so I can get a new set. I put them up on ebay: Carb Body #1 Carb Body #2 Carb Body #3 Carb Body #4 Float Bowls Top Caps Throttle Valves Air Cuto...

Air Cutoff and Accelerator Pump
Hey, here's some pictures from my teardown: my air cutoff diaphragms and my accelerator pump. The diaphragms in each seem to be okay and intact... what do you think? The air cutoffs are a little creased, but I'm not sure if that's normal or not. The acc pump is rusty... is that going to hurt the per...

Re: Carbs Again
So I assume they can stay in when I soak the carb bodies? There's no seals holding them in place?

Re: Carbs Again
I feel intimidated by these carbs... but I would love to learn them well and use them. First, my air cutoff diaphragms seem okay. Second, (not sure exactly what these are called, and I can't find them anywhere), I'm wondering if my needle valve jets are going bad. They appear to be a little corroded...

Re: How did you learn what you know?
Some of you mentioned Internet/forums. I've used them so much over the past 5 years or so, and they've been extremely helpful! So much info at my fingertips! But, I wonder if I might learn more like people did before the forum era? Dive in and figure it out rather than find the easy solution. It all...

How did you learn what you know?
So, I'm wanting to learn MORE. I'm considering finding a motorcycle mechanic that will hire me as entry level so I can learn all the tricks he knows. It'd be a pay cut, but I'd learn a lot. I've heard some people mock the MMI programs, and I know lots of you are self taught... so I pose the question...

Re: Carbs Again
I'm sorry, but I'm thankful for your help...
I believe I have 90 main jets, is it inscribed right on the jet?
Where's the best place to get new ones?
My stock exhaust was chopped by the previous owner... right before the trumpets. Are 120 jets still going to be okay?
Thanks for those links!

Carbs Again
Seems like every other post on this site is about the bad carbs on these bikes. Ahhh... me too. Doing searches for carb issues with these bikes brings up half of google! I have a 1979 CB650. At this point I've pulled out these carbs every day, trying to make adjustments to get this motorcycle to run...

Hi from Utah!
Hey! I thought I'd better show off my project! I got this bike for free a couple weeks ago when I asked some of my students if they had any bikes laying around. One student says, "yes, in fact, you can have it if you come get it." So, here she is! http://www.adr3naline.com/wp-content/other...

Re: 1979 CB650 with bad compression
I'm excited to retest it, because I didn't have my throttles open. I also know that I've got to rebuild these carbs, which should help. I'll keep you updated.

1979 CB650 with bad compression
Hello everyone! I'm new to the forum here as I recently got a 1979 CB650. I had been on the sohc4 forum, but it looks like there is a LOT of great specific information here! Anyway, I got this bike and have gone through and fixed a lot so far, but I couldn't get it to fire up, just crank. Tonight I ...
