Re: 81 custom and 82 standard parts

How much for:

81 Wire harness? Do you have all electrical parts as well or just the harness?
How much on those carbs? Are they the VB44A?

Re: Starting issues

It was the Solenoid. Traced from battery down to starter and it was not getting power out of the solenoid. Taped it and it fired right up. Had a spare at home and enjoyed a 150 ride yesterday on my new seat.

Starting issues

I have an 81 CB650 - It has been running well up until recently. It has take a lot of starting to get the bike to fire and start. Thus I have been using the starter a lot. Last night I started the bike let it worm up for 2-3 minutes and then turned it off. Push it out of my cluttered shop to the fro...

Do you have the fuse holder that fits on the top of the handle bar? What about the solenoid?

Re: 82 CB 650 Carbs jet size

I think I am at 2.5 turns on the mixture screws. I need to check my filter, set the mixture and re-sync them. Then see where I am at. 120 and 118 are not far apart. Going from 118 to 98 is a big jump but it made a major jump in how it ran ( for the better). I will try and get around to that before i...

Re: 82 CB 650 Carbs jet size

I am not confident on the air filter. I will check that. I do have to choke when its cold but when it worms up(1-2 minutes) it runs great with choke flaps open (pushed in).

Re: My 81 650 C bratstyle

I have a few questions about your lowering. Did you keep the air system or cap that off? Also looks like you only have 1 brake caliper vs. the dual that the customs have. If that is the case how does it handle and how is the braking? I was told the CB550 forks would work with a complete swap but you...

Re: 82 CB 650 Carbs jet size

So I re-jetting the carbs. When purchased they 82' carbs had 98s in the main. I put my 81' jets in which were 120s. It was running very rich. I had nothing in the mid and high range so I jetted down. It ran good after that. If I am running this low on jets should there be something else that is caus...

82 CB 650 Carbs jet size

Im trying to find out what the main jet was on the VB44C carbs that are on the 82' CB 650. I know the 81 carbs are 120 but I swapped out the 81 carbs for 82 carbs and I want to make sure I have the correct main jets.

Re: '81 cb650c idle jets, how do i clean them?

So after running the bike around 150 - 200 miles I am still getting carb 3&4 running rich and 1&2 are good/lean. I had a buddy behind me and said that he could see a little black smoke from the tail pipes of 3&4. The carbs have all the same jets in them so where do I start with fixing th...

Re: '81 cb650c idle jets, how do i clean them?

Wow that was a great idea. I have purchased some 82 vb44C carbs that fit and have the screw in slow jets, but I might have to try this on my old ones to have a back up.

Re: 81 CB650 clutch problems.

It only has about 20 miles so far. It is riding rough though - I think it might be the jets because it is bogging down in all gears. When I give it gas it bogs down and then will kick in and take off. That is why I pulled the spark plugs. Here is a pic of the plugs. Plug 4 to 1 from left to right. S...

Re: 81 CB650 clutch problems.

Changing oil and running through the dears on the stand engine off seemed to do the trick. I now have another question - I have new spark plugs in. I am having problems with what I think to be the jets either running rich or lean. When I give it gas it bogges down and then all as some speed picks up...

Re: 81 CB650 clutch problems.

Ok so spinning the tire and its clicking in to gear. So that means its a cable adjustment or bad cable correct?
