Re: Carb problems

Right after hitting the throttle hard there is a little bit of a sucking sound that seems to be coming from the air box, is that what a vacuum leak sounds like? I'm going to try putting some new spark plugs in this week too, it might be that those are fouled up pretty good.

Thanks

Re: Carb problems

All the pipes get hot, and even after 30 minutes of riding there is still problems with the choke all the way in, but I think I need to go through and try and clean the accelerator pump orifices again. I just hate pulling those carbs out, and I'm always afraid I'm going to rip the airbox seals. Than...

Carb problems

Hey everybody, been a while since I've posted here. I have a 1979 that has been sitting for about the last 3 years. I just got it back from a friend. I pulled the carbs and cleaned them first off, and now it starts better, but I still have problems at low rpm with the choke all the way in. The engin...

Re: 1980 all kinds of parts

do you have both side panels, and if you do will they fit my 79? I could also use a new front brake assembly. Let me know if you have any extra one and what it would cost to ship it to 80003.

Re: Quick accelerator pump question

I didn't measure the spacing, but there is nearly no spacing between the rod and the plate. But all seems to be working well so i'm not gonna mess with it too much more, we all know how much of a pain it is taking these carbs off...

Re: Quick accelerator pump question

Since the weather has been cold it took me a long time to get the stupid accelerator pump installed. So here is what had happened: originally one of the holes on the old accelerator pump was filled in with rubber, so I thought the new one would fix the problem of boggy acceleration. During installat...

Re: Quick accelerator pump question

yeah I don't think it was working i retried with the carbs on the bike and I pulled back the air box, but I wasn't hearing anything or getting any fuel. I ordered a new one, and when I install it i'm going to make sure all the passageways are clear. Thanks for the help, and I'll let you know how it ...

Re: Quick accelerator pump question

Yeah I had the carbs off, but I didn't fill the bowls with fuel. I didn't want to spill it all over myself, so I don't know if it is working properly. I do know that the diaphragm is a little warped, but it doesn't have any holes in it, so I think it should be ok.

Quick accelerator pump question

So someone suggested that my laggy throttle is because of my accelerator pump. I pulled it out, and one of the little tabs had a hole in it, while the other one was still full of rubber. Is this the way it is supposed to be, or is there supposed to be holes in both of the little tabs? Thanks, Jonathan

Re: Lag of idle

Last night I rode it for about 7 miles before I pushed the choke in, it was really cold ~32 deg F. I was on the highway, so the extra speed might have cooled the engine off to much. Even when it is warm out I still seem to have some problems. I'll let some sea foam run through it and see how it does.

Lag off idle

I have a 79' with the piston carbs and it seems to have a lag between idle and about 1/4 throttle. I thought it was the jetting, so I stepped up the main jet size to 95's. It seemed to help a little bit, but whenever I crank the throttle off idle it seems to bog a fair amount, and the bike lurches u...

Re: Stalling out in 1st

My bike did the same thing, but it never ran well, even after warming up. After I changed the plugs and gave the carbs a good cleaning it ran much better. Good luck

Re: Jetting question

So i replaced the jets with 95's today then took the bike on a long ride, and all of the ranges seemed to get better. I haven't taken the plugs out yet to see how they look, but I'll do that soon.

Re: 1980 honda cb650 custom questions

I got my rebuild kits on z1enterprises.com about a year ago. I'm not sure if they still have them available. For all 4 kits it was about $80, so get ready to spend some money.
